This year for the first time there was a workshop at CHI in conjunction with Dorkbot: DIY for CHI Methods, Communities, and Values of Reuse and Customization. The workshop coincided with the 27th annual conference on Human-Computer Interaction (CHI) ACM SIGCHI 2009 held in Boston, USA this year 4-9 April.

The workshop seemed like a great opportunity for academics and DIY practitioners to collaborate and network. Above is a wrap up video from the event.

The published proceedings are also available via lulu.com-
DIY :: HCI — A Showcase of Methods, Communities and Values for Reuse and Customization by Leah Buechley, Eric Paulos, Daniela Rosner, Amanda Williams and Jayne Vidheecharoen.

It would be great to hear other reports from the workshop.
