InnTex is doing some pretty interesting work on interactive textiles. First they developed a matrix pressure activated fabric: it uses knitted fabric for textile structure, tin copper or stainless steel/polyester for augmentation, and is made out of an inner non-conductive layer and two outer conductive layers, allowing for the circuit to close when the outer layers touch. It’s noted on their website that “thanks to its special configuration this fabric is able to determine the area where it has been pressed,” but no additional details are given. More recently InnTex released a video on their luminescent fabric, which uses metal and luminescent flexible wires, followed by a combination of the two in the shape of an arduino-driven EL pressure activated fabric - a fabric that lights up when it’s touched.
