paperduino1

AltLab has been trying to go greener so a few of us decided to start making and using more paper arduinos. They’re based on board designs by Guilherme and use paper and cardboard instead of PCBs - we call them paperduinos :) Monica’s version is embedded on a box where she keeps the connected batteries, sensors, and actuators. Next week we’ll be trying different kinds of paper, shapes, sizes, colors and layouts. For now here are some photos of the ones we made this evening.

    cArduino!

Very pretty layout. Have you tried making traces with silver paint?

cArduino is a great name! But we realized some time ago that it has already been used for another project: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ladyada/876105967/

Silver paint is one of the things we’d like to try next, along with a few other semiconductors that might work nicely on paper. We’ll keep documenting and sharing our experiments :)

    Limor strikes again!

I tried conductive paint on paper about ten years ago and it worked surprisingly well, though I made all the traces by hand and was disappointed by my lack of precision. Thinking about it now, it might be nice to combine it with woodblock or lino printing…

Please do keep up the good work. My place for documentation is going up soon. 8^)
